SummaryThis position is located in the Office of the United States trade Representative; Interagency Center on Trade Implementation, Monitoring and Enforcement.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide research and administrative support.
The employee assists senior level staff in locating and assembling trade data and information in support of analytical work; and participates in meetings or conferences for developmental purposes.

As a Trade Policy Research Assistant, GS-0303-09, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Researches, reviews, reconciles, abstracts, and develops a variety of trade information, in English and Mandarin, including:
economic data; provisions under existing trade legislation; administrative and other regulations related to trade policy; procedures and obligationsassociated with the positions, objectives, and goals for implementing trade policy of other offices, agencies, and departments in the trade policy interagency process.
Analyzes problems, issues, or program requirements relevant to the assigned area of trade.
Determines pertinent issues and collects relevant information and country specific data from a variety of sources.
Reviews information and applies standard analytical techniques to develop recommendations and proposals.
Assists the Director or higher graded staff member in compiling information to be used in Congressional testimony, responses to controlled correspondence, briefing materials, summary statements, negotiating text, and speeches, graphs, charts, tables, and reports for the senior USTR officials on major trade issues.
Conducts extensive research and compilation of data from diverse sources.
Extracts and assembles information, conducts analysis and develops reports or presentations.
Assists staff by managing and overseeing administrative duties including managing translation services, maintaining digital subscription access, supporting inter-office processes, receiving telephone calls and visitors, maintaining supervisor's calendar, arranging meetings, and making travel arrangements.
Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a U.

SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.
You may qualify at the GS-09 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
At least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to or exceeding in levels of independence, responsibility, scale and variety of assignments to at least the GS-07 level or comparable pay band in the federal government or equivalent experience in the private sector performing work that provided:
1) Researching trade regulations or analyzing data for Chinese Affairs; AND 2) Conducting administrative functions for an office such as managing a calendar, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements and/or preparing time and attendance.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.
g.
, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g.
, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
