Director of Media Relations

Job Type Full-time Description Hudson Institute seeks a director of media relations to help develop and operationalize Hudson's communications strategy, promote Hudson's research and analysis, interface with press, and support the management of public affairs team members.
This is a full-time position based out of Hudson's Washington, D.
C.
office reporting to the vice president of public affairs.

Essential Position Responsibilities.
Under the supervision of the vice president of public affairs, the director of media relations:
Develops, operationalizes, and manages Hudson's communications strategy to broaden Hudson's awareness among key audiences:
policymakers, journalists, experts, and supporters.
Cultivates and manages collaborative working relationships within the press and policy community.
Proactively pitches Hudson Institute experts, research, and analysis to journalists to inform news articles and promote Hudson scholarship.
Manages the flow of news about Hudson Institute to the media.
Manages a digital media manager responsible for social media content, and monitors and ensures success of Hudson's brand across social media channels.
Engages Hudson's research staff to identify, develop, and communicate compelling stories, and regularly innovate and implement ideas.
Tracks breaking news and trending topics to leverage Hudson's policy work and expertise.
Assists the vice president of public affairs with additional team management responsibilities as needed.
Requirements Successful performance in this position involves consistent, high-level fulfillment of each and every duty described above.
Additional requirements and/or qualifications for the position include:
Commitment to Hudson Institute's mission and supporting the work of the Institute's scholars and staff.
Five years' relevant experience in communications, politics, policy, journalism, or other relevant fields.
Strong news judgment and public policy savvy.
Excellent media contacts and demonstrated experience pitching reporters.
Excellent time and project management skills.
Demonstrated social media proficiency and excellent multimedia skills.
Excellent communication and comprehension skills, both written and oral, including professional and tactful demeanor in dealing with press.
Ability to work closely and effectively with others-including Hudson's senior management, fellows, and staff.
Creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
Commitment to acting with integrity and the utmost professionalism.
Recommended Skills Communication Courtesy Digital Media Innovation Journalism Leadership Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
