Network Engineer 2 - Washington, DC with Security Clearance
General Description The Network Engineer 2 is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing network solutions for the customers to ensure maximum uptimeThe role includes designing system configurations, documenting and managing the pre-installation and testing of a new network, and performs upgrades to hardware and software as requiredThe knowledge of or desire to learn about servers, virtualization, windows domain, and/or SQL is a major bonusKey Responsibilitieso Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment such as switches and routerso Originate design documents for large networkso Create Design documentation including:
Narrative Design Documents, Systems Designs, Network Block Diagrams, Preparation of Specificationso Perform QA/QC and technical reviews of designso Implementing and creating network designs using data center networking fundamentals (experience with VXLAN is a plus) Minimum Qualificationso 2-4 years of experience with a bachelor's degree in Electrical, IT, or Computer engineering or related fieldso Experience with networking protocols, such as OSPF, BGP, RIPKnowledge of VXLAN is a major benefit.o Experience using Standard Network Software (Visio, Wireshark, Putty, CLI, etc)o Advanced knowledge of network concepts, technologies, tools and philosophies, and the ability to design an organization's network infrastructure and services.o Must be able to obtain a DHS Clearance; EOD (Public Trust) Preferred Qualificationso 2
years of experience with a master's degree in engineering or IT fieldo Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or CCNA VCP - VMware Certified Professional or VCA - VMware Certified Associate MCSA or MCSE - Microsoft cert Experience with Physical Security Systems - Access Control Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, and CCTV Experience with the following core platforms and services or a strong desire to learn:
VMware ESXi and vSphere Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and 2019 Deployment and Administration Microsoft Windows 10 Deployment and Administration DNS, DFS, and DHCP Active Directory and defining, implementing, and maintaining Group Policy Data center storage fundamentals (experience with SAN protocols and NAS protocols) Abilitieso Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
