Applied Research Scientist - Machine Learning and Generative AI - Microsoft Research

We are seeking an Applied Research Scientist to join a foundational team to steer the trajectory of machine learning research, with an eye toward enterprise and institutional applications.
On this team, you will collaborate to propose, develop, and execute novel research programs, with a focus on community-leadership, publication, and open-source frameworks.
To do this, you think not just about single benchmarks, models, and scripts, but about larger classes of problems.
You think about systems of experimentation.
And despite a large scope, you aren't afraid to get started with smaller hypotheses and prototypes to gain understanding.
Your collaboration with experts across Microsoft Research will drive the evolution of Generative AI technologies, leveraging Microsoft's industry-leading compute infrastructure for large-scale experimentation.

Required
Qualifications:
PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Demonstrated research or applied science experience in Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Multimodal analysis, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Strong algorithmic problem solving, system design, and software development skills.
Familiarity with open-source tools such as PyTorch, as well as experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools.
Demonstrated publication record in top-tier, peer-reviewed conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, CVPR, AAAI, or in scientific journals.
Applied Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.
S.
is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year.
There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
