Primary Duties:

  • Anticipates sequential needs of the surgeon during the operative procedure. Assists with case preparation, following preference card guidelines.

  • Ensures that equipment is functioning properly and immediately notifies appropriate personnel of any problems. Functions as surgical assistant during operative procedures performing specified activities under the direct supervision of the surgeon. May act as second assistant by providing exposure and holding retractors.

  • Identifies and handles specimens appropriately. Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations that could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. May function as a technical resource person for OR staff providing information relating to instruments and equipment.

  • Performs indirect patient care activities such as patient transportation as needed.

  • Provides comfort and support for preoperative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient's care and privacy. Responds to questions from patients, families, and significant others in a prompt, courteous, positive, and knowledgeable manner and/or refers to appropriate personnel.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree from a school of surgical technology or completion of hospital-based training.

  • 6 months experience as a surgical technologist or graduation from a school of surgical technology program.

  • BLS (Basic Life Support).


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
