Reporting to the Managing Director for Lerner Health and Wellness Center, the Lerner Operations and Events Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Serve as the manager for aquatics at Lerner
  • Maintain certifications and ensure active license stature with the District of Columbia
  • Liaison with Aloha Pools and Winkler
  • Coordinate Pool usage for club and intramural at offsite locations during the academic year
  • Coordinate lifeguards for summer intern operations
  • Manage the event scheduling for spaces at Lerner
  • Coordinate all ancillary and third-party services required for events and programs being scheduled in Lerner
  • Meet with clients to do site visits and coordinate logistics support
  • Provide weekly reports on building usage by clients for weekly programs and events
  • Reconcile conflicts on calendars and escalate as needed
  • Coordinate the hours of operation with the event scheduling hours
  • Serve as the main evening and weekend point of contact for student facility managers and desk staff regarding evening and weekend programs and operations at the Lerner Health and Wellness Center
  • Day to day responsibility for scheduling all areas of the facility for programming, practices, competitions and other events hosted in the facility
  • Conduct facility and equipment inspections and perform routine daily maintenance tasks such as cleaning equipment, minor repairs, and functional testing of equipment throughout the facility
  • Work closely with the GW Facilities Director to maintain all fitness spaces, fitness equipment, meeting spaces, intramural spaces, and informal sports activity spaces
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and/or assists, as appropriate, with all emergency situations in the facility during evening hours and ensures all injury and incident report documentation is completed and filed
  • Aid with enforcement of policies and procedures related to facilities, operations, and recreation, fitness and wellness programs (including, but not limited to, user status, user attire, behavior, and equipment usage)
  • Work closely with the Director to plan and host events, practices and competitions
  • Assist with the training for event and varsity practice set ups and tear downs


The position is based at GW s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum
Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Lifeguarding, first aid or CPR/AED certifications

Preferred
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree and experience in a college-level recreational sports program.
  • Experience in aquatic facility administration, event coordination, personnel administration and/or managing recreation programs.
  • A successful candidate possesses exceptional interpersonal, mentoring, leadership, motivational, accountability, time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, public relations, organizational and planning skills.

Typical Hiring Range

$51,455.52 - $70,708.76 How is pay for new employees determined at GW?
