This position is located in the Division of Facility Maintenance at the Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC.
What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program which is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities in agencies to explore Federal careers while still in school.
Students who successfully complete the internship program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent appointment or a term (1-4 years in duration) appointment without further competition. If converted to a permanent or term appointment, the anticipated target position will be Facility Services Assistant, GS-1603-07; however, the target position may change based on the need of the organization at that time. Interns must meet the qualification requirements for the position to which they are being converted.
What are the Eligibility Requirements?
In order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Internship Program:
you must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a degree or certificate program on a full- or half-time basis as defined by the institution (certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum); and
enrollment is with a qualifying educational institution such as a high school or state-approved homeschool; or accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum; and
students must be in good standing according to their institution.
You must continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout the duration of your appointment under the Pathways Internship Program.
This position is indefinite and is not subject to any time limitations as long as the incumbent continues to meet the eligibility requirements under the Pathways Internship program.

Suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation Incumbent must wear a National Park Service Uniform Possess and maintain a valid State or District of Columbia driver's license Knowledge of various office automation applications, databases and software packages. Providing technical support with asset management work associated with the Facility Management Software System (FMSS), Facility Condition Assessment System (FCAS) and Cost Estimating Software System (CESS). Collecting and analyzing data, preparing work orders and cost estimates. Preparing, reviewing and evaluating reports from computerized and manual data management programs. Providing training and guidance on software programs.

The superior academic achievement provision (S.A.A.) is to be used to determine eligibility for applicable GS-7 level positions of persons who have completed (or expect to complete within 9 months) all the requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. S.A.A. is based on: 1. Examples of experience include: providing technical support on database management programs; maintaining and updating computerized inventory; collecting and analyzing data; preparing accurate work orders and costs estimates using automated systems.

REQUIREMENTS:
Appointment will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation. Under the requirements of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), all new Federal Employees must pass a background investigation. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.
